Spent the week of Sept 19th on vacation just taking a bunch of day trips. Went on Monday to Disney downtown which is a fun place to go if you love disney. There are shops there, Disney, lego store, movie theaters, A hot air balloon ride (which you will never catch me on), We walked from one side of Disney downtown stopping at the little shops, watching the hot air balloon, had lunch at one of the cafes and took the boat shuttle back to the beginning.

Tuesday we just stayed local went out to lunch and took a walk in down town Mount Dora which is a nice little town with little shops and parks. Also went to a thrift store that is going out of business. I got a bunch of books that were 10 for $1 hardback and paperback books. I now have enough books to last me about a year autobiographies, Danielle Steel, and even got a few V C Andrews books for my sister.

Wednesday we went to visit with a friend of mine from high school that moved to Homosassa, Florida. We had a wonderful day for the hour and half ride and really enjoyed finally getting a chance to take our new car for a long ride. While there Kathleen took us to Homasassa State wildlife park were i was finally able to see manatees. They are so ugly they are cute. :-) It was a really nice day for that type of activity, a little cloudy so it was really hot. We were also able to see a hippo who is an honorary resident of Florida and will spend the rest of his life in the park. Other animals we saw were bears, cougars, birds, and alligators. Hubby even enjoyed himself on this trip.

We had a lot of fun spending time together that week which is something we don't get to do often considering our work schedules rarely are the same. In Oct we are going to see the new Legoland theme park that is opening up Oct 15th. We were able to get 2 free passes with our Lego VIP cards. Then in Nov when D is on vacation again we are going to Disney Parks thanks to a friend of mine that worked there and gave us 2 park hopper passes. I wanted to wait until Disney decorated for Xmas to go because I have never seen the parks decorated for the holidays.

July 20th

It's another rainy day Monday, but at least the drought is pretty much over in Florida. :-) Hope everyone had a good weekend and found time to relax and recharge their bodies for the week ahead. This past weekend I finally caught up on all the housework I didn't have time to do with the yard sale last weekend and the work week. My house is spic & span clean, the laundry is all done and the yard work is even done except for the weedwacking and the weeding of the cactus garden. I even found time to take a nap or two and watch a few older movies on the cable on demand station.

Next weekend will be a busy one for me because D has his monthly weekend off and we always find so much to do. If the weather cooperates he would like to go to Old town FL http://www.old-town.com/. He likes the antique car show's they have every sat and I love walking through the old general stores. We have not been there in a while so it should be fun. There is also a huge Flea market somewhere nearby there also and we all know how much i love those. Where we live in Florida is ideal because there is so much to do in this area within driving distance.

**Daytona Beach (and other beaches) approx 1 hr east.
**Sanford Zoo- 30 min
**Kennedy space center a little more then 1 hr southeast (we can see the shuttle go up from our front yard)
**Old Town 45 mins
**Disney Parks(40 mins south)
**Gulf coast (approx 1 1/2 hrs west)
** Other attactions Universal Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens (not sure how far they are but within driving distance)
** Silver springs FL - they have glass bottom boats, concerts etc (about an hour north)

We do not go to all these places all the time but its nice that they are nearby when our kids/grandkids come visit. Most of the time we just go to The Villages FL or Mount Dora FL (http://www.whattodoinmtdora.com/about/) both of these towns have beautiful lakes, local small shops, and entertainment such as art shows, music, etc. Never a boring time in our area. If we were both retired we would always have something to do....but that will never happen *sigh*. Who could afford to retire in this economy. I am about to run to the store before I start working at 1 today. Hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead.

Linguine Salad

Ingredients:

1 box Linguine Noodles
2 Cucumber
1 large onion
1 large green peppers
2 large tomatos
1 large bunch Broccoli
Salad Supreme Seasoning (to taste)
1 Bottle Italian Dressing (I use Zesty Italian for more flavor)

Boil Water and cook Linguine Noodles until soft (drain, rinse and cool)
Cut Cucumber, onion, peppers, tomatos and broccoli into bite size pieces
Once noodles are cool add to vegetables and add Italian dressing and Salad Supreme, mix well.
Refrigerate

This is a great salad for a Picnic because you don't have to worry about mayonaise spoiling and its so easy to make. I have made this for husbands pot luck dinners at work etc and it was well received. ENJOY!

Do you ReUseIt?

Do you recycle? Do you try to keep as much out of the landfill as you can? One way to do this is to recycle your unwanted items that still have life in them. Do you have baby items that your children have outgrown? Or have you moved into a smaller house and just have too much furniture to fit into the smaller place? We can help you find someone that could really use those items. The ReUseIt Network is an online forum that helps gets things from people who have them and don't want them to people that want them but don't have them. Please go to http://reuseitnetwork.org to find your local group.

Yard sale weekend

This weekend was very busy and tiring. We had a neighborhood yard sale both sat and sun. Good thing i took a vacation day on Friday to get all my errands done etc or I would not of had time to do it this weekend. We actually had it scheduled from 7am-3pm both days but believe it or not someone was here at 6:10am! Geesh my eyes were not even quite open yet and it wasn't even completely light yet. We were just starting to set up the tables etc.

We had two beautiful weather days for the most part. It did rain on Sat but after we had put everything away for the day, so it really cooperated. We all had a decent day of selling things and did well for the most part on sat. Yesterday was really slow so we have decided that if we do it again we will have it Friday and Sat. But as tired and sore as I am it won't be anytime really soon :-).

D was great through it all, he went with me on Friday to do all the running around I had to have, I posted about the yard sale on 2 local chat yahoo groups, and posted it on Craigslist, a cheapcycle yahoo group and also a buy sell group on yahoo. So advertizing did very well for how busy we were. D knew how tired I would be so he planned and took me out to dinner (Quarter deck which is a fish place on sat and Crazy gators on sun) ...he is such a sweetie. Think i will keep him *grin*

Its back to work today for me. Wonder why I feel like after 3 days off work like i was never off. Well off to get some brunch before we both start working today. Have a great day everyone and I will post more soon.
